Meet Silvia Melchior of the Donmar Warehouse.
Meet Silvia Melchior of the Donmar Warehouse.
‘The dynamic partnership between the Donmar Warehouse and One Aldwych began when we were staging Nick Payne’s wonderful play Constellations.’ explains Silvia Melchior, director of development at the Donmar, as well as a proud One Aldwych Curator. ‘Working in collaboration with the hotel, guests were able to enjoy a Champagne reception and after the show, a Q&A with the cast. It was a very special opportunity.’
Her track record is stellar, working at the Royal Opera House across ballet and opera, then at the Southbank Centre, with its multiplicity of artistic offerings, before joining the English National Ballet, just at the pivotal moment famed ballerina Tamara Rojo had taken over as artistic director.
Now, at the intimate and innovative Donmar Warehouse, Melchior is thrilled to be working in theatre, which is her true passion. ‘There’s so much to look forward to,’ she says. ‘And partnering with One Aldwych is brilliant because we are both independent in spirit, so we can be agile in our plans, allowing us to shape enthralling experiences for guests.’ she reveals.
Upcoming must-see performances include the heart breaking, hilarious and, ultimately, incredibly hopeful, NEXT TO NORMAL which centres on the story of Diana, a mother struggling with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family.
